UNION, N.J. – Just as expected, the Union Junior Thunder have had a spectacular second half of their season. Recently, they have won 4 of their last 7 matchups, including an impressive hard-fought win against the Seahawks Hockey Club. The double-header on Friday at the Aston showcase proved to be a successful one, where forward Ethan Richardson and recent signee Tyler Chmiel were able to both successfully get their first career EHLp goals with the Thunder.

Team leaderboard contributors include forwards Ryan Byington, David Toman, and recent re-signee James (Jimmy) Delaney. These key players have shown a tremendous effort and proven their improvement from the beginning of the season in September. Byington, despite an injury suffered in January, has been able to get back on the ice healthy, and most importantly, back on the scoresheet. Miles Fairbanks’ 2 way game on both ends of the ice has also been a contributing factor to recent results

The team has already achieved a franchise record of 11 regular season wins, surpassing the 5 wins they had in their inaugural 2022-2023 season just last year. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed.

This weekend, the team begins their long-awaited playoff run. The team battles one of their favored opponents in this play-in-round, the #4 seed Philadelphia Flyers (EHLp). The Thunder have gone undefeated in their last 4 matchups against PLF. They plan on keeping their streak going this weekend.

As always, make sure to tune into this weekend’s games on Hockey TV.
